Chana Masala

This aromatic Chana masala tastes extremely delicious. Very easy, popular and simple Indian recipe to make and pleases everyone with its taste and pairs well with rice, naan or bhathure. The chickpeas contains high amount of protein which is good for your health.


Olive oil 1 teaspoon
Cumin seeds 1/2 teaspoon
Green Chilli 1-2
Turmeric powder 1 teaspoon
Garam Masala powder 1 teaspoon
Coriander Powder 1 teaspoon
Kashmiri Red Chilli Powder 1/4 teaspoon
Chana masala 1/2 teaspoon
Chickpeas 1 cup
Salt To taste
Tadka House - Tadka (Onion, Tomato, Ginger & Garlic 1 pack
Fresh Coriander Handful


Step 1

Soak the 1 cup chickpeas overnight and in the morning pressure cooker them for at least 15 minutes.To check if they are done: they should break easily when pressed between your thumb and index finger. Alternatively, you can use the canned chickpeas and skip the steps of soaking and pressure cooking.

Step 2

Heat oil in a pan and add cumin seeds.Add green chillies.

Step 3

Add Tadka House - Tadka (Onion, Tomato, Garlic and Ginger) and mix well.
Tip: Just before you starting to cook, take our tadka out from the freezer and put it in a hot water bowl to make soft to use.

Step 4

Add turmeric powder, garam masala powder, coriander powder, chana masala, chilli powder and salt. Stir it for few minutes.

Step 5

Add the above cooked chickpeas to the masala. Add water to your consistency and cover it to cook for 10-15 minutes and you are done. Yay!

Step 6

Garnish it with fresh Coriander.
